Sub-Saharan Africa is widely regarded as the poorest region on Earth – burdened with the highest rates of illiteracy and the lowest standards of living. Within this region lies Uganda – a small, landlocked country where over 41% of people live in extreme poverty. Within Uganda itself is a region so deprived it sits at the very bottom rung of the nation’s socio-economic ladder.
